WEEKEND RITUAL #12 : Notes For Santa

This coming week on TGG is set to be a festive one indeed, with giftlist inspiration in BUCKETFULS. This weekend I'm going back to basics (to ensure that all boxes are ticked and details finalised), and sharing a few lustings of my own. So whether you're hunting for a suitably girly gift or need some inspiration for your own correspondence to Mr Claus - I hope this will suffice as inspiration! Christmas lists have a deadline, don't y'know??

LUSH : Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without some treats from the one shop which TRULY resembles Santas grotto. Bath bombs and soaps serve as A* stocking fillers, but for those too lazy/generous to faff - Lush's gorgeously wrapped gift sets will fill even the Scroogiest of girls' hearts with joy. On my list : Best Wishes Gift Box

LUXE BEAUTY : My first rule when present buying is to treat my loved ones to items they wouldn't normally buy for themselves. First stop : Chanel. Because there's nothing like a stick of rouge or a chic pot of le vernis to bring an element of luxury to your stocking. On my list : Camélias de Plumes Illuminating Powder.

KNITWEAR : Boxing Day etiquette demands snuggles in knitwear beside a roaring fire. So whether you splurge in Acne or bulk-buy in Zara, a chunky knit, oversized roll-neck, or soft cashmere hoody is an absolute essential/failsafe. On my list : Oversize Sweater

CANDLES : I buy candles from IKEA and surround myself with MUJI's Feu de Bois dupe all year round, so when Christmas arrives it's time to call in the real deal. Jo Malone, Diptyque, and Byredo present the ideal festive treat - chic packaging and dreamy scents, luxury personified. On my list : Diptyque Feu de Bois

LINGERIE : Absolutely of the silk/satin variety, ideally incredibly expensive, and definitely from Agent Provocateur, are the only rules applied here. On my list : Joseline Bra

LITERATURE : A sure-fire way to banish the New Year blues is a knee-high stack of books. A combination of fiction and non-fiction, chart-toppers and old classics, arty coffee table tomes, and inspiring cookbooks will never go amiss. On my list : Women in Clothes by Heidi Julavits & Leanne Shapton

EDIBLE TREATS : Anyone directed to either Hotel Chocolat or Harvey Nichols' Food Court is guaranteed to hit gold. Whether you opt for chocolate, coffee, alcohol, or something of a more unusual nature, remember, packaging is everything. On my list : Charbonnel et Walker Pink Champagne Truffles

Did I miss anything??

It's been a quiet week on the home front. After much deliberation, I finally had my locks chopped on Wednesday. My head feels half a tonne lighter and I am relishing reduced blow-dry time. No regrets (as yet).

Today Danny and I are getting the tram out of the city in search of the perfect Christmas tree for our apartment so it will be afternoon of decorating, mince pies, and Sinatra on repeat!

What's on your agenda for today?
