November Beauty Picks : 2014
In November's spotlight : a stellar beauty line-up which is all about finesse. The below are all relatively recent additions to my collection, and have provided the finishing touches to my established makeup/skincare/haircare routines with a prowess which earned them pride of place in my monthly beauty roundup.
For good eyebrows in a pot, look no further than the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade. A densely pigmented gel best applied with an angled brush, use of this beauty editor's favourite results in a natural but defined look which lasts all day long. The creamy gel consistency will fill and add definition to even the sparsest of brows, coating each individual hair and giving you A+++ brows regardless of their natural (read : overgrown) state. Apply in short, feather-light strokes starting at the centre of the brow and working outwards so as to avoid a heavy look. Eyebrow Nirvana reached.
2014 has undoubtedly been the year of eyeshadow pencils (for me at least), and this month the highly coveted Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Sand Glow joined my collection. For ease of use and travel, an eyeshadow in crayon form truly has no rival, and when it comes to pigmentation and formula, this is one of the best I've used - with a creamy consistency and rich pigmentation, which blends beautifully with other shades before setting for a long-lasting golden glow. In terms of colour this is a pure, antique gold, which works as perfectly washed all over the lid as it does blended with bronze or copper tones, or when used as an inner-eye highlight.
I may have had my long locks chopped this week, but Bumble & bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil* will remain a firm favourite in my haircare routine. A little of this sweetly-scented do-it-all serum goes a long way - just one drop will immediately smooth flyaways, reduce frizz, and soften dry ends, leaving hair feeling weightless and with a subtle shine. If your hair is dry, frizz-prone, or easily tangled then I cannot recommend this enough as the answer to ALL of your haircare woes.
If you ever thought that active masks were a fad then take a look over here. The Radical Instant Revitalising Mask* is nothing short of genius. A complex blend of plant and fruit extracts, multivitamins, and nutrients, this luxe mask increases oxidation, regenerates skin cells, and optimises moisture levels with the use of Radical's unique Trylacel Technology. Meet the latest addition to my blemish-battling artillery, the Origins Super Spot Remover. This super strength spot-buster has been next on my list since spring - I find that my skin builds an immunity to spot-treatments, but my previous favourite (La Roche-Posay's Effaclar A.I.) lasted a good nine months, so it took a while for this to make it into my stash. With a high salicylic acid count (the ultimate breakout buster) and a blend of caffeine and algae to calm skin and reduce redness, this sharply scented gel decreases the size, appearance, and pain of blemishes within a matter of hours, before working to reduce post-blemish marks and regulate pores.
