The Glow Getters
Observe above the stash of a DIE HARD glow getter... Impressive, huh?
As a self-confessed lover of all things radiant it's safe to say that a significant proportion of my beauty stash consists of glow inducing products - those formulated with the purpose of recreating that post-holiday radiance seen only on the faces of those capable of an 8 hour+ sleep, or as a side-effect of the latest juice cleanse.
Come rain or shine you'll find me sporting lashings of mascara, a nude lip, a wash of bronze eyeshadow and a 'lit from within' glow which will be ENTIRELY down to (at least) one of these beauties...
No7 Skin Illuminator Radiance Boosting Beauty Fluid in Peach Warm and golden-toned, I reach for this in warmer months - it is seriously dreamy when paired with a bronzed complexion - providing that 'just got back from Barbados' glow when in reality you've spent the summer chained to your desk with a bottle of fake tan. I'm not a huge fan of the applicator so tend to avoid using the built-in brush, and dab on with my fingertips instead.
Benefit High Beam Luminescent Complexion Enhancer My go-to highlighter in the winter months is this cool-toned pearlescent pink, better suited to pale complexions than tan ones. A little goes a long way, and when blended over the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, and across the brow bone makes for a instantly radiant complexion, working alongside your bronzer to create Angelina Jolie worthy cheekbones in seconds. A cult classic in my book, these tiny glass pots seem to last FOREVER.
Nars Illuminator in Orgasm* A do-it-all product if ever there was one, and right up the street of any blush-wearing glow getters out there. If you rely on adding a little colour to your cheeks to keep your face looking "alive" throughout the day, then Orgasm is the one for you. A liquified version of Nars' cult blush, this light gel is much less pigmented than you'd expect, and applies as a sheer, subtle sheen with a hint of sparkle and enough colour to effortlessly create a healthy, natural, "I run 5k every morning" glow.
Benefit Watt's Up Soft Focus Highlighter For a subtle champagne glow sweep Benefit's cream highlighter stick over your cheekbones post-foundation and be prepared to SWOON. With little need to blend and no fear of super-size glitter pigments cascading down your face with every smile, this handbag friendly glow stick can also be used as an eyeshadow - not that you need to carry it with you, Watt's Up packs some real staying power.
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder in No. 10 As subtle a glow as you'll find in my beauty stash - this powder provides a 'lit from within' radiance and satin finish - if you're after a natural look then add this adorable compact to your beauty shopping list, immediately. If you're a die-hard glow getter then pair this with something with a bit more oomph in order to truly epitomise radiance...
Nars Sheer Glow in Siberia I'm a fierce opponent of the matte foundation trend and this luxe offering is the poster girl for a base that really glows. If you're oily-skinned and quake at the idea of a base with 'glow' in its name, fear not. This foundation is an oily-skinned girl's best friend, leaving no unwanted shine or oiliness, at, all. Just a subtle, natural glow in all the right places. With good coverage, a 'lighter than air' application, last like no other, and the added benefits of antioxidants, your skin will not only look more radiant but feel softer, smoother, and better hydrated. Perfect for both day and night, and with a colour range to suit everyone - coming from a foundation-hating-foundation-wearer - this is The One.
Eve Lom Light Illusion Concealer in Alabaster* Following in the style of YSL's much-hyped Touche-Eclat - Eve Lom have created a real winner here. Packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and essential oils, this concealer is not just a faux glow-getter - it contains everything you need to reinvigorate a tired, stressed complexion, stimulate hydration and boost circulation for an all natural glow. Perfect for sweeping over the cheekbones as well as for brightening the under eye area and blurring imperfections. A do-it-all, no-fuss, travel bag essential.
The Balm Mary-Lou-Manizer Luminizer For those who prefer their daily dose of glow in powder form meet Mary-Lou, an intensely pigmented highlighter which even when applied with the lightest of hands, packs some serious punch, leaving you with a glow that says "I've spent the last week on a juice cleanse AND getting 10-hour night sleeps". Hardcore glow getters ONLY, please.
Are you a glow getter? If so, what are your recommendations??
