Bedside Beauty

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset Although the major part of my daily beauty routine takes place at either my dressing table or bathroom sink, I do like to keep a small selection of products to hand to use before getting tucked up into bed. For me, those final 20 minutes before lights out are ALL about relaxing, indulging, and winding down in true beauty blogger style. So, with your beauty hats on, welcome to a one stop edit of my bedside essentials...

Aesop Mandarin Facial Hydrating Cream* Say hello to my new 10-hour sleep cheat. I know moisturisers are supposed to be simple, single-purpose, and fuss-free (I'm sure you're all familiar with Mrs Hirons' winter coat analogy), but think of this as picking up that Céline coat you've been lusting after, as opposed to your bog standard Zara (no offence Zara, we love you really). Cool, soothing, and instantly hydrating  - this lightweight cream is enriched with hazel (a soft and easily absorbed but rich moisturiser), and numerous citrus oils for A* hydration and an instantly glowing complexion.

Verso Eye Serum* Wave goodbye to fine lines, dark circles, and puffy bags with the help of this cool (in both senses of the word), refreshing serum from Verso (seriously, could that packaging be more chic??). Formulated with Retinol 8 (eight times more effective than standard retinol, but also significantly less irritant), this lightweight gel is free from parabens, sulphates, and other irritants in order to be 100% suitable for those with sensitive skin. My sensitive skin (and eyes) have given this their full seal of approval.

The Body Shop Facial Massager A desert island must-have. When I have the energy to indulge in 15 minutes of reading before bed this trusty gadget is certain to be at hand. After months of use I've perfected the art of holding a book in one hand, and gently rolling this in upwards motions across my cheeks (from chin to temple) with the other - so much so that I barely even have to think about it. It's hard to believe but this bizarre little ritual has had profound results upon my skin - the massaging action stimulates blood cells and encourages better absorption of products - meaning congested skin and scarring are a thing of the past.

Burt's Bees' Lemon Cuticle Cream On the rare occasion that I don't have nail polish on (that's some 2015 new year's resolution material right there already!) then a good lathering of this light, easily-absorbed cream is first on the pre-sleep agenda. Intensive moisture, but without the stickiness, what's not to love?

Caudalie Hand & Nail Cream On a VERY similar note to the above. I hate the feeling of greasy hands (especially before bed)  - and I've tried many a hand cream - but nothing absorbs (yet works) quite so well as this DREAMILY scented offering from Caudalie. I'm a fool for all things honey so adore the scent of this cream - which is also enriched with anti-oxidants, avocado, and shea butter, and leaves my hands beautifully soft.

This Works Deep Sleep Stress Less I don't really care whether it's 'all in the head' or simply the effect of lavender's reassuringly homely aroma, but after a quick roll of this across my wrists I'm certain to sleep sooner and deeper. This adorably tiny vial has been a regular fixture on my dressing table for well over six months now but looks barely used. An essential for the insomniacs amongst you.

Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream* Not a nightly occurrence - there's something really peculiar about applying lip products after brushing your teeth (just me?). This rich, featherlight cream is certain to bring chapped lips back from the brink - even when verging on 'Sahara'. Not a balm per se, but a loose, silky cream - much more like applying a moisturiser to the lips - this has the effect of providing an instant injection of hydration and leaves lips kissably soft and smooth.

I'm in the middle of a house move (exciting!) so there are no artfully arranged bedside table snaps for you today (sorry!) - but as always, I suggest heading to Pinterest for the ULTIMATE interior inspo!

If you're not asleep already, then DO fill me in on your bedside beauty essentials!
