This Mask Will Fix Your Hangover Skin
Skincare takes effort - effort even I don’t always have. A classic example? Stumbling in at 3am after a Saturday night where 2-4-1 cocktails and the very best dirty martinis got the better of me…
I always religiously remove my makeup and double cleanse (yup, no matter how drunk I am), but when faced with my regular line-up of serums, moisturisers, mists, and eye cream, my hazy head and desire to get into bed gets the better of me. The result come 10am would be puffy, dehydrated, flushed skin (to accompany bleary eyes and a pounding head - happy Sunday!)… which is why before going out, sober Grace always sets out a hangover mask for drunk Grace to reach for in her time of need - the skincare equivalent of a litre of water and a bacon sandwich.
My previous go-to hangover masks, were first Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, then Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask (both excellent candidates), but my latest (and favourite) is Summer Fridays’ Jet Lag Mask.
It’s a thick, creamy blend of vitamins and antioxidants, which smells like peppermint and feels deliciously cooling on application. Since it’s designed to rejuvenate moisture-parched skin, it’s ideal for counter-acting alcohol-induced dehydration - and the best part? You don’t need to wash it off - it sinks in straight away, so I can hit the pillow ASAP, leaving the mask to work its magic while I sleep and without worrying about half of it transferring onto my bed linen.
The following morning will feature an inevitable blend of nausea and headaches, but as for dullness, dry skin, and puffiness? Not a sign - Summer Fridays’ Jet Lag Mask makes me look more alive than I feel.
