MAKEUP WITH BENEFITS

As someone who invests a lot of time, money, and research into sourcing good skincare, when I come to apply my makeup I can't help but feel that I'm somewhat revoking the effects and benefits of those top of the range serums and detoxifying masks. If blessed with a naturally clear complexion I would more than happily forego the majority of my makeup routine, but until that day I've come to appreciate those cosmetic items which succeed as both makeup and skincare. Below are the 2-in-1 wonder products which do everything required when it comes to masking imperfections and enhancing my complexion, but which also have the  added benefits of treating, nourishing, and protecting my skin.

Upon first use I adored the Eve Lom Sheer Radiance Translucent Powder* for its ability to instantly inject vitality and finesse upon a depleted complexion, blur imperfections, absorb excess oil, and contribute a serious glow factor. All boxes ticked, and that was before I'd even learnt that this super finely milled powder contains some intense skincare goodness. The formula contains fruit stem cells, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants; which together provide deep hydration and instant suppleness as well as preserving the skin's natural barrier and maintaining collagen levels.

My dark circle antidote of choice is the Eve Lom Light Illusion Concealer* - a light, creamy product which when swept under the eyes has an instantaneous brightening effect. As well as providing the high coverage and luminous finish which we ALL require come Monday AM, the formula contains caffeine and white tea extracts which go the extra mile and work behind the scenes to eliminate dark circles and puffy bags in the long-run.

Nars' Sheer Glow Foundation is a staple in my daily makeup routine; and for good reason. With a medium/buildable coverage and a luminous 'second skin' finish, this is everything I could possibly require of a base [and more]. With prolonged use, the formula [which contains Nars' Complexion Brightening Formula] works to improve the skin's texture, brightness, and hydration levels. It's also rich in antioxidants [nature's anti-agers] and boasts a fragrance free, non-comedogenic formula which makes it an ideal foundation choice for those with sensitive and blemish prone skin.

Nars' entire lip pencil range boasts hydrating properties, but for an extra intensive bout of lip care goodness, opt for the Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils. Alongside a light buttery consistency and dreamy colour range, the ingredients list of the handbag essentials features vitamin E and hyaluronic acid. Expect instantly plump and moisturised lips, the chic way.

A product which truly bridges the gap between makeup and skincare [with a 50/50 balance each way] is the Radical Skin Perfecting Screen*. This light, silky lotion provides the benefits of SPF [30], primer, skin brightener, and moisturiser from the confines of one single tube. Girls, it really doesn't get better than that. Upon application my skin is left with a matte texture and a glowing finish; ideal for consequent makeup application.

If you're in need of an excuse to pick up one of Chanel's divine Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks but the chic packaging and swoon-worthy colour range isn't enough to tempt you, then perhaps the knowledge that the light, buttery formula is rich in lip care goodness will persuade you? With a balm-like texture and a formula which provides 8-hour long hydration, think of these glosses as a luxe alternative to Chapstick.

When my lips are at their worst and a standard lipstick will only worsen and amplify their chapped state, the SUQQU Creamy Glow Moist Lipsticks* are guaranteed to save the day. The balmy buttery texture is super light [weighty lip products are a no-go for me], and the sheer pigmentation [think 'my lips but better' but with a hint of colour] means that even as these wear off [which they don't do easily!] you'll be free of that obvious lip liner effect. A luxe lip care option which is fast becoming the saving grace of my spring 2015 lip lineup.

When it comes to finding eye products which boast nourishing properties and go the extra mile beyond simply lengthening and volumising our lashes, options are few and far between. In the Claudia Louch Lashware Mascara* however, I have found a real gem. Aside from presenting a super pigmented formula and some serious lash-lengthening power, this non-comedogenic option is completely natural, free from fragrance, and hypoallergenic; making it ideal for contact lense wearers and those with sensitive eyes.

The colour range offered up by the Only Fingers + Toes Nail Lacquers* will leave you feeling truly spoilt for choice [I don't think I have ever spent so long deliberating in a salon in my life], and the formula itself is the best I've used; long-lasting and super pigmented. If you're keen on your green beauty then you'll be pleased to hear that Only Fingers + Toes prides itself on being the only nail brand to offer a 5-free formula [the entire range is exempt of the five toxic chemicals most frequently found in nail polish].

If you find that your blemishes tend to mark and linger then using an SPF is a sure fire way to speed up their disappearance. MAC's Studio Finish Concealer contains an SPF of 35, which ensures daily protection against the harmful UV rays which can increase damage and prevent marks from healing properly. Aside from its obvious crowning glory, this concealer has a super high coverage and is one of the best I've used when it comes to cancelling redness and masking blemishes.
