The Do It All Lip Pencil
My latest beauty obsession and current lip du jour is better known as the Nars Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in Hopi, a honey beige which leaves the lips with an Olsen-esque glow that fits bang on trend in this season's penchant for the sun-kissed, bronzed goddess look.
When I say 'do it all', I mean 'DO IT ALL'. Here is a product you can apply in the morning and toss in your bag for on the go touch-ups confident in the fact that your lips will look as fabulous come 4pm as they did prior to leaving the house. Reducing the need to carry around lipstick, lip liner, lip balm, and lip gloss, this sleek, matte black pencil has it all. Giving a sheer finish upon first application which (being on the nude side of things) blends in beautifully with my natural lip colour, this product is easily buildable into a stronger and more pigmented finish. Glossy, but not too glossy (think more 'au naturel' than 'Nicki Minaj'), the non-sticky finish avoids the dreaded mouthful of hair situation so often the result of loose hair + lipgloss + windy day.
With a super smooth application, I use this first to line my lips, before filling in the centre. It gives a light, buttery feeling, something akin to a lip balm, but with the pigmentation of a lipstick and the finish of a gloss (and being in pencil form allows for precision application). The last isn't great, but being the kind of product I can carry in my pocket and touch up mirrorless (if needs must), this isn't really an issue for me here. Packed with Vitamin E, this pencil is uber moisturising, an absolute dream for dry lip sufferers, and one of the few products I can get away with wearing in lieu of a lip balm on chapped lip days when lipstick is out of the question. The formula also contains hyaluronic spheres which increase hydration and give the appearance of fuller, plumper lips. Can you see why I'm obsessed??
