Lipstick Lovers Unite: Part I

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 presetRegular readers will know already that my all time favourite lipstick comes in a sleek black bullet topped with interlocking C’s. Chanel’s Rouge Coco in Gabrielle is a true red, strongly pigmented, it applies and lasts beautifully and is my go-to lipstick for special occasions (and not so special occasions when I simply want to make essay writing that tiny bit more glamorous). It may not be the most worn lipstick in my collection but it holds that special place in my heart which every woman has reserved for her 'The One’. In today's post I’ve asked some of my dearest friends, fellow bloggers, and some obliging family members to give me all the details on the lipsticks that they can’t live without.... Jen (Jennypurr and Co-Founder/Editor of A Little Opulent magazine) My favourite current lipstick has to be the Revlon Matte Balm in Sultry. I'm usually such a high end girl, but these Revlon offerings have completely blown me away. Sultry is the perfect brown pink with a hint of plum that is so pretty with a vintage feel to it that I've pretty much worn it every day since it came into my life. It's the perfect, not too bold, not too nude shade that has a way of bringing my makeup look together whilst still looking quite chic.

Pippa Ever since being kidnapped in Selfridges last month, my favourite lipstick is Growl by Illamasqua. It’s a beautifully rich deep purple, with hints of dark brown, perfect for my olive complexion. I would not normally splash out on a lipstick that equates to my weekly food shop, but this is completely worth it; it has a fantastically smooth matte finish and the application stays on for hours. It doesn't scream spring/summer, but works with most outfit choices and who doesn't love a dark lip?

Liz H My favourite lipstick has got to be Bruised Plum by Tom Ford. I definitely had a 'Did I really just spend that much??' moment when I bought this, but when it arrived I knew it was worth it. I like to wear this blended out on the lips to give them that 'roughed up' look, think eating too many blackberries as a child, it gives the lips a good colour without looking too try hard or being to hard to maintain throughout the day! Overall I think the lipstick can be used in so many different ways, day or night and the the satisfying click of the lid will keep you going back for more.

Lilly (In A Pavilion) When it comes to lipsticks I’m an all or nothing kinda gal - I’ve never been scared to wear a bright pink or even purple out. However, I do seem to like my classic reds at the moment and the Chanel Rouge Allure Intense in the shade Pirate hasn’t often left my handbag these days. Upon swiping this onto my lips I feel like said pirate, daringly dashing across the streets, ready to take on the world - it still amazes me how a lipstick can do this! Pirate is a great lipstick for anyone in need of a little staple and its creamy texture and lasting formula won’t disappoint (see image below).

Donna If I had to chose one item in my make-up kit that I couldn't possible live without, it would have to Boots No17 Lasting Fix Lipstick in Dusky Rose.  I am no lipstick snob and this has a bargain basement price tag at £4.29 but it is beautifully packaged in a black and bright metallic pink case, it is a lovely creamy lipstick and the colour is perfect with just about any outfit.  I keep one in my make-up box, one in my handbag and one in my swimming bag so as never to be found without lippy and I swear that if I ever find that this colour has been discontinued,  I will breakdown and cry right there in Boots!

Charlotte (Awake & Make) When it comes to lipstick, for me it’s all about longevity. I can apply eyeliner in a morning without having to reapply it at 2 hour intervals, so why should lipstick be any different? I love Seventeen’s Stay Pout in Infared. It’s a matte, postbox red that will never go out of fashion, and instantly makes me feel polished. It lasts a surprisingly long time too, considering it is a high street brand, only needing a slight touch up after eating.

Nicole Due to my current student status (as much as it pains me) spending a fortune on lipsticks cannot be justified all too often. Admittedly L'Oreal would not be my first choice but when I came in contact with this flawless new range, I could not resist. My go to lipstick for this season has to be L'Oreal Paris Rouge Caresse in 501 Nude Ingenue - a stunning lightweight colour that is wearable day and night. This nude beauty will give your lips a perfectly illuminating but subtle finish with a meltingly smooth application. At a staggeringly cheap £7.99, and ten shades to pick from, it would be silly not to grab a bargain this summer.

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to today's post. I had such fun putting it together! I'd also love to know what your favourite lipstick is and why, so let me know in the comments below! You can keep an eye out for Part II (coming next Wednesday) by following me on TwitterInstagram, and Bloglovin.
