Pastel Perfect

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset The pastel trend is in full swing this spring, and has truly taken both the beauty and fashion worlds by storm. I've always had a penchant for pastel nail polishes so gathered together a few of my personal favourites for this post.

Without a doubt one of my favourite nail polishes of all time, Essie's Mint Candy Apple is a spot on mint green, and although I wear it most during the warmer months, this can be found on my nails all year round. It looks great with gold detail or paired with an orange accent nail for an extra summery pop of colour. Another Essie favourite of mine is Lilacism. I never really got the hype over Lilacism - to me lilac is a bit wishy-washy and boring but this looks so pretty on. Like all Essie polishes the formula is really pigmented so it isn't too pale and actually stands out really nicely. A recent addition to my favourites is Topshop's Bashful*. I've been on the hunt for a perfect baby blue shade for ages and this one is just perfect. It's bright but not too bright, very pigmented, easy to apply, and lasts really well. Round of applause Topshop.

White nail polish is another trend I never quite got. However since receiving Mod in Manhattan in a Birchbox last year, my opinion has changed. This is a gorgeous floral white-cream which somehow seems to glow and really catches the eye. Being a little on the cream side it isn't as garish as a pure white, and is one of the few colours that looks fab on short nails. Frostiest Pink by Revlon is a pearlescent baby pink that reminds of candyfloss. The epitome of a pastel in my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of pink myself but this one is pale enough to win my affection by being pretty but subtle. For the days when plain pastel nails aren't quite cutting it but I don't have the time or energy to attempt any crazy nail art, I turn to a bottle of Seventeen's Colour Clash Nail Effects. Designed to be applied over a solid base colour, these provide a little dimension to everyday plain nails without being too OTT. Tropical Punch is a mixture of pinks and creams, and goes with just about anything. Despite its very summery/tropical names, I've been pairing it with my pastels over the past few weeks to recreate the highly sought after 'eggshell' effect.

I'd love to know which pastel polishes you count amongst your favourites, let me know in the comments below.
