Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum
Since the best of the French skincare brands jumped the channel with an affordable price tag (via Escentual) we've been bulk buying Bioderma Sensibo, stashing Nuxe Reve de Miel, and hoarding Effaclar Duo like nobody's business. However, these cult beauties are not the only miracle products to be found on the (virtual) shelves of escentual.com. The Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum* was the latest treat to slip through my letterbox and has fast become an everyday staple for me. A hydrating serum might seem like a product only the French would consider vital to a skincare regime, but as far as I'm concerned the madames and mademoiselles of the world can do no wrong when it comes to soins de la peau.
I use this product every morning post-cleansing and pre-makeup. It's the perfect makeup base for my skin. For me, a primer is too heavy and clogging for everyday wear, and if I apply a morning moisturiser I end up with a forehead resembling an oil slick by noon. This product is the perfect combination of the two. Super moisturising, but without the greasy creamy texture of a moisturiser, it creates the perfect base for foundation application. This serum applies with a light gel-like texture which sinks straight into the skin without leaving any stickiness or residue. My makeup wears so well over this. It completely eliminates those annoying dry patches that you don't realise you even have until you apply foundation, and doesn't make my face at all oily or shiny.
If you have dehydrated skin then this is the perfect way to give your skin an extra daily boost of moisture and hydration without having to resort to a moisturiser or intensive mask. Packed with glycerine (dehydrated skin's best friend), this serum will leave your skin feeling deeply nourished but silky smooth and soft. I've definitely noticed an improvement in the brightness and texture of my skin since using this. It really helps to reduce redness and leaves my skin looking somehow less stressed and irritated.
The Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum is currently only £12.75 (RRP £17) on escentual.com, and as if you need anymore excuses to pick some up, you can get up to 1/3 off all French skincare until the end of March. Go go go!
