Mid-Term Facial
It's reached that point in term where essay deadlines are fast approaching, I can't move in my room for library books, and dissertation research is proving every bit as stressful as expected. Working 9am-11pm doesn't leave much time for relaxation. I try to do face masks at least once a week, but I do like to take the time to do a proper facial at least once a month. Obviously being busy I've been a bit lax recently, and my skin is definitely in need of some extra TLC. Time for a much needed pamper session.
- First off, I steam my face for 10 minutes over a bowl of hot water. You can use straight water, or add some essential oils or one of Lush's great toner tabs. I'm using the Tea Tree Toner Tab, which is perfect if youre skin is spot-prone but sensitive. Steaming opens the pores and lets all the nasty build-up out.
- Using a cotton pad and some toner wipe your face.
- Next use a really gentle cleanser. I'm using my HG cleanser, Lush's Fresh Farmacy Facial Soap.
- Now part two of the double cleanse, this time using an exfoliating cleanser such as Lush's Buche de Noel fresh cleanser. This will help to open your pores and prep your skin for the next step. Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells, making it easier for your mask to get deeper into your pores.
- Apply a face mask. I usually like to use a gentle, moisturising one such as the Dead Dea Spa Magik Delicate Boosting Mask. Cleansing can be quite stripping so this will help to restore moisture to your skin.
- Now apply an oil or treatment followed by a rich moisturiser. I'm using Trilogy's Rosehip Oil which helps with blemishes and scarring, and the Dead Dea Spa Magik Rich Moisturiser, which is really thick and nourishing but sinks straight into my skin.
Lush's Tea Tree Toner Tab is much the same formula as their Tea Tree Toner, so I always let the water cool and bottle it up. It's obviously not the real deal but works well as a cheaper substitute.
This routine always leaves my skin feeling deeply cleansed, nourished, and glowy. Definitely feeling ready to tackle those essays now...
