L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes
During my teen years I hunted for the perfect mascara like the rest of you, trying out pretty much every offering the high street had to offer. I had a brief stint with Maybelline Volume Express The Colossal, was incredibly underwhelmed by the much hyped Maybelline Great Lash, and found brief (but expensive) happiness with Lancome Hypnose, but nothing (apart from a sample of Chanel's Le Volume de Chanel (but that's another story)) has ever come close to working the wonders that this gem does.
I've never really posted about mascara before, and that's because for the past few years I've stuck to my tried, tested, and completely beloved L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes. It's become such an everyday product for me, that I'd completely forgotten just how much I love it until I recently spontaneously purchased L'Oreal Telescopic and realised all over again just how good Volume Million Lashes is. Like many, I'm torn between volume vs length, but at the end of the day if I had to pick, I'd go for volume. The best thing about Volume Million Lashes is that it's one of the few mascaras I've tried that does both really well. Whilst the overall effect is definitely volumising, it does a really good job of lengthening without clumping. Rumour has it Volume Million Lashes is a favourite of Mario Devivanovic (Kim K's makeup artist), so if you want Kardashian-esque lashes, look no further.
I usually apply this by wiggling the brush at the base of my lashes for volume (focussing on the outer corners), and then blinking it all over my lashes for length. Taking the time to do this can create quite a dramatic effect that looks great with eyeliner. However, if you're in a rush a quick flick all over still suffices for creating a pretty but natural look. I've received so many compliments when wearing this mascara, especially when I first started using it, and I often get 'Are your lashes real!?
The other day I picked up a new product in the Volume Million Lashes range, 'Noir Excess'. The sales-lady assured me that it was only ever so slightly different to the standard Volume Million Lashes. I'm too scared to stray very far! The brush is a little longer and slightly indented, and is aimed at separating lashes and reducing clumps. Formula wise, apparently it's more of a gel-like substance, intended to last longer and create the 'eyeliner effect' of a black line at the base of your lashes.
Price-wise, L'Oreal mascaras are at the higher end of the budget market, retailing at around the £10 mark. I usually stock up when Boots has a good 3 for 2 of BOGOF offer on, or use my Boots points. Mine usually last me around 3-4 months, which is pretty good going considering I use it nearly every day. If you're still on the hunt for the perfect mascara, want a good volume/length balance, and like to be able to employ both a natural and falsies effect then I really recommend checking out Volume Million Lashes.
