Birchbox September 2013
With a fashion week theme, the concept of this months Birchbox was cult staples. A classic lip and nail colour, and every MUA's favourite darling Bioderma H2O certainly serve as the obvious favourites for this box. A chocolate bar? Maybe not so much, but I'm not complaining.
Molton Brown Ylang-Ylang Nourishing Body Lotion
I've never been a huge body lotion user, preferring to get the chore of drying my hair over and done with ASAP post-shower and completely forgoing the whole moisturising step. I've also never really liked the feel of being all damp and lotiony beneath my clothes. However, this does have that pre-bed 'time to wind down' kind of scent, and I quite like the idea of using it in conjunction with the Ylang-Ylang shower gel from last months box.
Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Gel
I'm really impressed by the size of this product, 40ml is pretty generous for a sample, so I'll definitely get a lot of uses out of it. The gel has a really powerful, herbal scent, (grapefruit, rosemary, and juniper according to the packaging), personally I like it, but it's the kind of thing you need getting used to. Aimed at evening and toning skin and improving circulation, you're supposed to rub it into "areas of concern", hips, thighs, stomach etc. I don't know if I'll ever quite believe the concept of a gel that slims, tones, and reduces cellulite. Too good to be true, surely? Maybe a few uses will tell.
Green & Black's White Chocolate Bar
Rich, creamy, tasty, the perfect treat during an afternoon in the library. But as much as I love Green & Black's chocolate, I really do wish that the 'lifestyle' product would be something other than food for once.
Révérence de Bastien Nail Polish in 'No2 The One and Only Red'
A gorgeous classic red, and in a full size bottle. What's not to love?
I was SUPER excited to read that Bioderma would be featured in this months Birchbox. The stuff is a godsend for removing makeup, and even on a makeup-free day takes a good layer of grime off my face. I was quite taken aback by just how small the bottle is, but it will be perfect for travelling and weekends away.
ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in 'Kitty'
I personally prefer a bold lip over a nude lip, and after last months nude it would have been nice to get something a little different in this months box. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this shade, it's kind of 'your lip but better', more brown toned than pink so adding a slight natural pigment without making me look washed out. I'm not a huge fan of the scent, it reminds me of strawberry laces (ew), but as with last months lippy I'm super impressed by the size.
