10 UNDER £10 : BODYCARE
As much as I love a luxe bodycare product, I'm the first to admit that when it comes to bath-time indulgences, a minimal price tag does in no way negate a luxury experience. Some of my favourite bodycare pieces can be picked up with change for a tenner yet often deliver a superior experience to many of their more expensive alternatives. Below I've shared ten products which will set you swooning, in more ways than one.
& Other Stories Fig Fiction Body Mist Keep this in your handbag and you'll never again experience that 'on the bus and realised I forgot to apply perfume' panic. Its scent is such as more than fills the space of a perfume; strong without being forceful, and so long-lasting you'll still be catching whiffs of it after your evening shower. It's resplendent in all of the warm, heady, summer vibes one expects from a fig-centric product, and what's more is uber refreshing.
Mane 'n Tail Hoofmaker Hand and Nail Cream Not the thick, heavy balm-like product I was expecting; this cream is actually one of the most light and delicate I have ever used, and with an equally mild fragrance to match. Despite this however, it provides a powerful injection of moisture which sinks rapidly into the skin, comforting even the sorest and most chapped of hands. Originally formulated to hydrate horses hooves, this is a hand cream with which one can be assured of results.
& Other Stories Floral Memento Body Scrub My love for a good body scrub [and the resultant silky soft skin] is bordering on excessive, and I rarely shower without a lineup which includes exfoliation. My current scrub du jour is this gorgeously scented & Other Stories offering. I don't think there is a single &OS scent which I haven't fallen head over heels for, and this complex, delicate fragrance is everything I seek from an indulgent bathing product.
Lush Therapy Massage Bar Beyond the mounds of bath bombs and stacks of soap lie the hidden gems of Lush - and no product is more deserving of said title than the insanely underrated massage bars. My personal favourite is Therapy, a simple but effective combination of cocoa and shea butters [to soften and hydrate], and lavender, orange, and neroli oils [to relax the mind and lift the mood]. Ideal for travelling, romantic evenings, and 5-minute desk-side arm massages, this is body care at its best.
Soap & Glory Orangeasm Body Wash During my undergrad years these super-size bottles of sweetly-scented shower gel were a staple in most student bathrooms, and for good reason. They last for months, lather well, smell incredible, and more than perform on the hydration front. As for the packaging, body wash in pump-bottle form is nothing short of genius [take note, brands].
The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Body Lotion* This delicately scented lotion is something of a comfort blanket to the skin; absorbing without a trace, yet leaving skin feeling as soft and hydrated as if you'd gone body butter crazy. I have something of an excessive body lotion/balm/butter/cream stash, but this is one I always come back to; particularly in the summer when it's cocoa butter aroma is poolside perfection.
Baldwins Revitalising Bath Salts* For acute aromatherapy without the price tag, these bath salts are everything. The tiniest amount will fill your bathroom [indeed your entire flat] with a sharp and refreshing blend of lavender, lemon, and peppermint - the perfect wakeup call.
Aēsop Resurrection Rinse-Free Hand Wash For those who [where possible] avoid the use of public bathrooms [or who are savvy as to the 'NEVER use a hand-dryer' rule] a hand-sanitiser is no doubt already your saving grace. I adore Aesop's offering, not least for it's fragrance [the iconic Resurrection formula - orange, lavender, rosemary, and cedar wood] but mostly for the fact that this is the first hand-gel I have used without an overpowering alcoholic odour. Pick up the matching hand cream, and you'll render perfume useless.
Q-Awe The Fine Fragrance Body Spray Possibly the first and only budget body spray I have ever smelt without the effects of synesthesia transporting me back to my high school gym changing room, this will be the star of your daily fragrance lineup. It's aroma is light, complex, and expensive [in the best sense], ideal for that quick midday refresh without having to worry about inflicting your neighbours with the repulsive odour of Impulse/Charlie/whatever floated your boat circa Year 9.
Dr PawPaw Original Balm I've rated and repurchased this one-stop do-it-all wonder balm enough times for you to be more than aware of its existence by now. Although I primarily use it to moisturise and shape my brows, it also works wonders on the lips, cuticles, and on any overly dry patches of skin. It saved my nails during those sketchy few days post-gel removal and is one of the most softening lip products I've ever used.
