SEASONAL SKINCARE : THE SPRING EDIT

The first day of April seems more than fitting for a post which focuses upon all things spring.

The season calls for a new start, so what better occasion to reassess, turn over a new leaf, ditch the makeup wipes, and update your skincare routine accordingly.

Between new launches and old favourites, here are some spring-perfect picks guaranteed to give your complexion that pre-summer skincare boost we all seek after a long grey winter. Let's tone down the intensity a little, boost hydration levels, and prep our skin for that sought after summer glow.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum* Vichy's powerful blend of concentrated Thermal Spa Water and hyaluronic acid combats the after-effects of dehydration - balancing the skin's moisture levels, and restoring comfort in order to allow the skin to repair and rehydrate. Ideal for use post-cleanse and pre-moisturise for that extra boost of hydration, this is spring skincare at its best.

Aēsop B & Tea Balancing Toner* Free of alcohol and rich in green tea, this simple and refreshing toner calms and balances a stressed complexion; delivering a cocktail of vitamins and antioxidants which preps skin for moisture. I can see this fast becoming a staple in my routine as the weather warms up.

Eve Lom Brightening Cream* Is there a single item in Eve Lom's skincare range which doesn't appeal to me?? The answer is a definite no; and this skin brightening, glow-inducing super-moisturiser is the cream of the crop. Don't be fooled by its gel-like consistency - sheer and non-greasy, it leaves behind a subtle glow whilst delivering a serious hydration boost.

Racinne Delicare Soothing Toner* With a thick, silky texture this serum-like toner absorbs quickly, leaving skin with a soft fresh sheen but providing more moisture than your average toning water. It's soothing, calming, and a tried and tested antidote to unwanted redness.

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask An annual favourite for me, but a product which excels at this time of year, when a mask which provides the perfect balance between moisture and clarification is sought. Between the ingredient lineup [blueberries, chamomile, calamine] and the temperature [Lush masks must be stored in the fridge] this has a simultaneously calming and refreshing effect which leaves skin feeling super soft and clean.

Radical Skin Perfecting Screen* If you haven't already done so then your spring skincare revamp offers no better occasion to introduce an SPF into your daily routine. Go for the 2-in-1 approach and select a makeup/skincare hybrid such as this Radical offering which, as well as providing antioxidant and SPF 30 protection, serves as a matte base for makeup and contains light-reflecting particles for a radiant glow.

Racinne Delicare Soothing Cream* Despite the name, this delicate cream by no means scrimps on the moisture levels - it contains shea butter, vitamin E, and sunflower oil [all staple ingredients in your richest winter night creams], but delivers them in a silky soft formula which doesn't feel heavy or leave any unwanted residue.

The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil This beautifully scented oil manages to be both refreshing and nourishing all at once. It's ideal for removing that first layer of makeup in place of a micellar water, and provides such a sensual experience that you'll find yourself upgrading your regular cleanse to a luxe impromptu facial massage [c/o the SUQQU Gankin].

Clarins HydraQuench Cream* Tired complexions get an instant lift with this weightless and refreshing weapon against dehydration. This cream is rich in hyaluronic acid and katafray extract, both of which help to attract and lock in moisture. It's light, soothing, and contains all of the good stuff so is more than ideal for any and every skintype, and is as perfect for pre-makeup application as it is for overnight use. I'm obsessed.

Codage Spring Break* The undoubted star of this edit more than lives up to its seasonally appropriate name. Spring Break is a delightful concoction of hardcore skincare goodness which strives to repair any and every skincare ailment. A detox of the very best kind,  you can expect visible results in less than a week.

What are your spring skincare staples?
