Low-Maintenance Lips
I love a bold lip as much as the next person, and will happily sport a bright red or coral whenever I feel like it, but most days of the week my lipstick criteria is less 'fun' and 'eye-catching', and leans more on the side of 'durable' and 'carefree'. If I'm in work or have a busy day ahead then I have neither the time (nor the patience) to constantly reapply and touchup my lipstick. On these days I seek a colour which blends well with my natural lip colour, and a formula which lasts but will eventually wear off slowly and subtly. As you can see, I have a few to choose from...
MAC Lipstick in Cosmo : MAC's colour range is one of the best on the market and they have an abundance of 'my lips but better' shades. This was the match for me - a warm pigmented pink with a creamy consistency and a subtle sheen. Long-lasting and wearable, a box ticker indeed.
Burt's Bees' Tinted Lip Balm in Hibiscus : What could be more low maintenance than a tinted lip balm? Aside from being one of the best balms I've ever used (it's super moisturising) this light buttery formula has a gorgeous coral hue which blends in with my natural lip colour. It applies sheer but is easily buildable for a bolder look, and has become my go-to product for wearing to work in recent weeks.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy : It feels like a lipstick, looks like a gloss, and works like a tint. Not the most long-lasting lipstick of all time but perfect for on-the-go and mirrorless application, even the clumsiest of lipstick wears would be hard-pressed to mess up application of this cult favourite.
Clinique Chubby Stick in Woppin' Watermelon : No low-maintenance lip roundup would be complete without a lipstick in pencil form. Perfect for quick, easy, on-the-go application and last minute touch ups, this sheer pink applies almost nude before adapting itself to a colour which enhances your natural lips.
Nars Lip Gloss in Corsica* : I'm not a big fan of lipgloss as they're usually not low-maintenance enough for me, but as far as lip glosses go, this is one of the most durable I've tried. The colour and sheen are both very natural so even as this wears off it won't draw any unwanted attention.
Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie : A sheer berry shade which gives warmth and definition to the lips without leaving a matte block of colour, the creamy consistency is moisturising and leaves a subtle glow. It won't last all day, but it fades off so subtly that you won't even notice.
Chanel Rouge Allure in Captivante : Who would have thought that a red lipstick would make this compilation? A delicate, vintage shade which is possibly my all-time favourite lip colour, one application gives a subtle layer of warm-copper toned pigment, and a couple more provide the perfect brown-toned red. Your day to night lip sorted.
What are your favourite low-maintenance lipsticks?
