October Beauty Picks
DHC Pore Cleansing Oil* I love love LOVE the concept of cleansing oils, but have always found them so awkward and frustrating to use - forever ending up with oil dripping down my arms and staining my sleeves. This new release from cult Korean skincare brand DHC has a thicker, richer consistency than those I've previously used, so barely has time to make it to my wrist before I've smeared it over my face. It's fast become my go-to second cleanser as it does an A++ job of removing the last traces of makeup and leaves my skin feeling soft and pampered, without leaving a greasy film or breaking out my sensitive skin. Perfect for during the winter months when my skin is always a little on the dry side and in desperate need of some extra moisture and nourishment.
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler I FINALLY invested in a pair of everyone's favourite eyelash curlers (and by everyone I mean Miranda Kerr, Blake Lively, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Ashley Olsen) after years of deliberation. After all, can you really justify spending £20 on something as nondescript as eyelash curlers?? The answer, is YES. If you're considering picking up a budget pair then allow me to point you in the right direction before you end up with a drawer full of affordable but useless curlers (I speak from experience). These provide an instant and dramatic curl to my lashes, which lasts. They're also super easy to use, comfy to hold, and allow for precision curling. I could go on about these all day, but they are after all just eyelash curlers.
Clinique All About Shadow Single in Black Honey I'm very much a neutrals gal when it comes to eyeshadow, so this plum-toned smokey aubergine is really quite a daring move for someone whose eyeshadow choice normally varies only between gold and bronze. Possibly THE PERFECT autumn shade, a lovely warm russet, it can be built up from subtle to defining, and really serves to bring out the green in my eyes. It also looks gorgeous when blended with a copper or bronze shade and when paired with a brown-toned red lip and Nars' Douceur blush.
Gilchrist & Soames Essential Elements* Now I don't know about you, but I get irrationally excited by the concept of a range of products which can be used on face, hair, and body, yet smell exactly the same. The Essential Elements collection from Gilchrist & Soames does just that - aromatherapy in it's most practical (and compliment attracting) form. Over the past few weeks I've been rationing out these (adorable) miniatures as I'm loathe to see them end. Scented with rosemary and mint, they're the perfect products for an invigorating 'wake me up' morning shower, and the ahh-mazing scent lasts all day long.
Sachajuan Shine Serum* I found it very hard to narrow down my picks for this month, especially when it came to haircare, as I've been experimenting with (and adoring) so many new launches. This do-it-all wonder serum from (my personal) haircare favourite, Sachajuan pipped the others to the post however. It's the perfect (albeit temporary) antidote to split ends, and helps to smooth and soften coarse, dry (over-heated) hair, whilst protecting against future damage. I apply a little to the ends of my hair post-blow dry for shine, softness, and SCENT.
