September Beauty Picks

This month has been all about adapting my beauty routine to the changing weather. Where skincare is concerned, I'm after stability - so the winners are those products which I can rely on no matter what condition my skin is in and which help it to retain a relative level of normality. I like to mix up my makeup with each season, so whilst I keep my staple favourites in place I do like to chop and change the smaller elements for a little bit of a seasonal twist (more to come on this VERY soon)...

Verso Night Cream* I've rattled on about my beloved Verso Eye Serum many a time over the past few months but haven't really given much mention to it's night cream counterpart, despite the fact that it's a regular in my routine. Formulated with Retinol 8 (a Vitamin A complex eight times more effective than standard retinol) and a powerful blend of antioxidants, this light gel-like lotion helps to increase collagen production and protect skin from environmental damage - leaving it calm, hydrated and positively glowing. Within a week of using this I'd noticed my skin looking SO MUCH clearer and brighter. A+++ for sure.

Nars Blush in Douceur A wishlist staple since I first read a review on Jen's blog, I finally picked this soft pink-brown blush up during ASOS's recent 25% off for students. From a (very) pale girl's perspective this is hands down THE BEST contour I have ever used, and has easily replaced my (once beloved) Hoola bronzer. It's so so subtle but perfect for sculpting a really natural contoured effect. Added to that, it brings a bit of life and colour to my ghostly complexion and doubles up beautifully as an eyeshadow. I honestly wish I'd bought it sooner and can't believe it doesn't have a hype. One to watch, for sure.

Leonor Greyl Bain Volumateur Aux Algues* Those of you who grew up with Johnson's Baby Shampoo will feel a burst of nostalgia for the scent of this (slightly more luxe) haircare staple of mine. A rich but lightweight shampoo, this is PERFECT for adding volume to thick and heavy hair - leaving it soft, silky, clean and voluminous for days after use.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Bronze Over the past few weeks I've started to wear eyeshadow on a much more regular basis. Whereas previously it was really only something I reached for on special occasions or for work, I now apply it more or less every time I wear makeup. This pretty, neutral shade has been a favourite in my collection for well over a year but has become my go-to shade for daily wear. It's effortlessly wearable, easy to apply, and subtle, but can easily be built up into something a bit more.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Cleanser* The star of my most recent Skincare Diary returns to the spotlight once again. My skin is FUSSY, and when it comes to cleansers, for me, less is more. Gentle but effective, this clear gel is specially formulated to avoid irritation, and works to reduce the bacteria and excess sebum which cause breakouts, as well as calm irritated skin. If you're a fan of Effaclar Duo or have troubled/blemish prone skin then I can't recommend this cleanser enough. It's basically ED in cleanser form (it even has the same scent). Love love love ALL AROUND.

What were your beauty favourites this month?
