Stop Then Shop: Sachajuan

SONY DSC Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset Providing you haven't spent the last few months living in a cave, you'll have no doubt noticed that the Scandi lifestyle is having a bit of a (read: a BIG) moment in the beauty/fashion worlds right now. Our Nordic neighbours are famed for their minimalistic interiors, effortlessly chic street-style, and for appearing stylish, fresh-faced, and cool at all times. Look to the catwalk, Pinterest, or any fashion editorial, for evidence of the Nordic beauty influence. Clear, glowing skin (real emphasis on the glowing), minimal makeup, long unstyled hair, Freja Beha Erichson... Need I say more?

Although the essence of this is of course down to good genes, an active lifestyle, a healthy diet, and a lack of harsh sunlight that far north, we can't help but want to try our absolute hardest to recreate the effortless allure of Helena Christensen et al.

Recently, brands like Verso, Byredo, and Sachajuan have edged their way onto the British beauty scene and are proving popular with beauty editors, bloggers, and 'it-girls' alike. Aside from their chic, minimalistic packaging, these niche brands present a perfect combination of simplicity and functionality, and have earned pride of place in our bathroom cabinets for providing the antidotes to ALL of our skincare/haircare woes.

Today I'm directing the spotlight to Sachajuan, the brainchild of Swedish hairdressers Sacha Mitic and Juan Rosenlind (clever huh?), and a range guaranteed to invoke health, shine, and volume in even the most lacklustre of hair. The pair opened their Stockholm salon in 1997, followed in 2003 by the launch of their own homegrown haircare line. With a mission for it's products to present a perfect harmony between simplicity and effectiveness, Sachajuan is the Scandi lifestyle, bottled.

The range is built around the inclusion of a unique combination of active ingredients - algaes, proteins, and minerals, together known as Ocean Silk Technology, which has an instantaneous healing effect upon the hair.

Providing care and stability without weighing hair down, Hair Repair is an intensive treatment which restores shine and sleekness to damaged and over-styled hair. This thick, creamy lotion delivers intense hydration to banish frizz, and promotes cell regeneration - encouraging hair growth and strengthening the follicles. I use this once a week in place of a conditioner, and leave it on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing out and blow-drying my hair to smooth, swishy perfection.

When in need of an UBER-intensive treatment I reach for the Over Night Hair Repair Serum, a light gel-based lotion which strengthens and promotes elasticity within hair follicles and adds moisture and shine as you sleep. Containing the strongest concentration of Ocean Silk Technology out of the entire range, this is a must-buy for anyone suffering with dry, damaged hair. Post-use my locks are left feeling like silk and positively gleaming. A miracle in a bottle.

Possibly my most favourite scented product in the whole entire world (truly words cannot do justice to this scent), Sachajuan's Volume Cream adds thickness and bounce to the hair without leaving that oh-too familiar tackiness. This thick cream is your first (and only) stop to creating polished and voluminous waves in a matter of seconds. Use on damp hair to add lift and heat protection, or style through dry hair for instant shape and shine.

All you need now is a spritz of Byredo's Tulipe, some delicate silver jewellery (preferably Efva Vattling), and a suitcase full of Cheap Monday/Acne/COS, and you'll be ready to hope on the next flight to Stockholm. Ses där!
