Skincare Pairs

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset As a self-confessed skincare junkie with a sizeable stash and new products landing on my desk on a frequent basis, it’s safe to say that I’ve tried and tested a lot of skincare products in my time. This means that I can’t usually stick to once solid skincare routine for more than a few weeks, but one thing that I have discovered whilst lathering my face in an assortment of cleansers, serums, oils, and moisturisers it that some products work best when used in conjunction with others. Brands regularly market entire ranges or products to be used as part of a set regime, and (marketing ploy or not) it has to be said that some products are best used in succession in order to reap the benefit of each others ingredients as well as to establish a stable and balanced routine (the first step to skincare success). In today’s post I’ve compiled my thoughts on my favourite skincare duos…

Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser This gentle, soothing cleanser is a favourite in my evening skincare routine. Cool and mild, it leaves my skin feeling smooth, soft, and moisturised before I've even picked up my night cream. Pair with: Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask for the ultimate moisture boost. This thick, creamy, mask goes that extra step further in providing a much needed injection of moisture, the effects of which can be seen in noticeably brighter, plumper looking skin the morning after application.

Face B4 Anti-Bacterial Face Wash* This light, gentle foam combines the cleansing and toning steps of my skincare routine into one quick, easy, and effective wash. A formula of salicylic acid, AHA's, and glycerin helps to remove impurities and excess oil, reduce redness, and treat blemishes. Mild and non-drying, this is perfect for spot-prone but sensitive skin. Pair with: Face B4 Anti-Bacterial Serum*, an equally gentle vitamin enriched product designed to soothe and moisturise the skin post cleanse as well as fight spots and blemishes and provide long-lasting anti-bacterial protection.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] Your favourite spot preventing serum needs little description from me (full review here), suffice to say that this little white tube saved my skin and is my go-to product for keeping the spots at bay. Pair with: La Roche-Posay Effaclar A.I. - sister treatment to the above, whilst Effaclar Duo prevents spots, A.I treats existing ones. This strong and speedy spot-on blemish treatment works within hours to reduce the size, appearance, and pain of blemishes without drying out the skin. Not cheap but this tiny tube lasts for ages.

Merumaya Iconic Youth Serum* With a formulation of just about every must-have skincare ingredient in the book this rich, thick serum is a no brainer if you’re on the hunt for an effective anti-ageing treatment (and it’s never too early gals!). With a thick, smooth consistency which melts into the skin, this serum provides instant moisture, reducing fine lines, redness, and other imperfections, and leaving skin glowing and smooth. Pair with: Merumaya Youth Preservation Moisturiser*, a combination of hyaluronic acid, glycerine, and anti-oxidants, with a velvet smooth finish. This lightweight, non-greasy cream gives skin 8 hours of additional moisturisation and protection against environmental irritants.

Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Facial Serum The ultimate moisture boosting serum, constant use of this will leave your skin noticeable clearer and brighter within a matter of weeks.Consisting of an extremely pure form of hyaluronic acid (each molecule of which can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water), this serum will boost the benefits of any serums, oils, or moisturisers applied on top. Pair with: Antipodes Avocado & Rosehip Divine Face Oil*, a blend of two intensely hydrating oils which leaves the skin feeling deeply nourished and replenished. A winner if you suffer from blemish scarring, redness, or fine lines.
