Sunday Stuff #7
I feel like it's been a really long time since I sat down and had a proper chat with you guys (a la Life Lately (which will resume at some point I can assure you)) so here's a bitesize life update to keep you going until then. After finishing uni I've moved back home with my parents and am working a part-time retail job and doing some freelance writing - which means I've had plenty of time to devote to blogging. Danny and I have just signed for a dreamy apartment in Manchester's warehouse district (we spent our first night there this week and it is wonderful), and once I've finished at work I'll be moving in for good (so psyched for city living). I'm all set to start studying for an MA in History at the Unviersity of Manchester come September, but I'll also be working, writing, and (hopefully) interning at the same time. I can already tell that this is going to be one of the busiest years of my life, but I know it will all be worth it in the end. In the meantime I'm making the most of having quite a lot of free time, but I can assure you no matter how busy I am, Sunday evenings will always merit a Sunday Stuff post...
Starting off with a long hot bath and I've delved into my stash of bath bombs. I've actually had this one (Lush Party Popper Bath Bomb) since last Christmas so really do need to use it up soon. I actually prefer it when bath bombs are shaped like this as it means they can be used multiple times. I use this like a bubble bar - either breaking a bit off or holding it under the tap for a few minutes. This doesn't really have a particular smell - it's just very calming, and for that, I love it. Post-bath I'll be indulging in one of my summer favourites. A lighter, cooler alternative to a body butter or lotion, Aesop's Petitgrain Hydrating Body Gel* is gentle and soothing - packed with aloe vera, it's perfect for skin thats been a little too long exposed to the sun. The gel sinks straight in leaving skin feeling intensely hydrated but grease free. A holiday essential in my book.
I'm looking forward to being within walking distance of a Lush store soon (and able to sink my money into their gorgeous fresh face masks). I do love Lush's skincare offerings and the BB Seaweed Face Mask is one of my favourites. It's very cool and soothing and dramatically reduces redness, leaving my skin looking much calmer and clearer post-use. I always find that Lush's masks last about twice as long as they say they do - and there are definitely more than 4 applications worth in a pot. It's been a few weeks now since my last haircut and my ends are already starting to look a little worse for wear. What can I say, I'm a hairdryer addict! I love using oils in my hair wet or dry, and the Montibel-lo Amber & Argan Oil smells divine. It has quite a thick, gloopy texture which makes it really easy to apply and pleasant to use in dry hair.
I've been making a really conscious effort lately to keep my lips moisturised. There's nothing worse than when you go to apply your lipstick and realise that your lips are all chapped and flakey. This Malin + Goetz Lip Moisturiser has been a handbag regular of mine over the past month. I can tell that you're all just dying to express your shock at the fact that for once I haven't included a bottle of nail polish amongst my Sunday selection. Ever since realising that I have't really been without polish on my nails for the past two years I've decided to give myself a bit of a nail detox for a week or two (bets on how long that lasts for...). I will however be lathering on the Burt's Bees' Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream*. With a balm-like formula and completely non-greasy texture this beautifully scented product not only softens cuticles but provides nourishment and moisture, leaving my nails feeling smooth, clean, and raring for that next bout of Essie. I'm a full-on Victoria Beckham fan and adored her shoot and interview in this month's Vogue so much that I'll almost certainly be rereading it (and swooning over those dreamy photos) again tonight.
