I Don't Pop Molly, I Rock Tom Ford

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Ever since reading this post on Kate's blog I've been a slave to the idea of owning a Tom Ford lipstick. Luckily this obsession coincided with my university results and graduation, and I headed to London last month with a hefty sum of reward money (working hard in school pays off kids). First stop? Selfridges, of course. I was intent on owning Vanilla Suede after reading Kate's review but when faced with a wall of Tom Ford beauties was somewhat thrown (kid in a candy store comes to mind). Vanilla Suede looked mighty fine, but oh boy some of those other shades didn't half look tempting... I stayed true to my guns though and headed home with Vanilla Suede tucked safe in my makeup bag.

A pale nude in the bullet, I can see how Vanilla Suede could look boring or be off-putting to some, especially compared to the bolder and brighter alternatives in the collection. With a soft, creamy formula, this lipstick leaves a gorgeous champagne shimmer to the lips (shimmer with a glow as opposed to shimmer with huge chunks of glitter). This stuff works wonders in giving the appearance of fuller, plumper lips. It's not a super slick pigmented wash of colour, but it's not simply a balm/gloss shimmer effect either - looking natural but eye-catching, and just goddamn pretty. Kind of like a highlighter for the lips? Honestly, it's like nothing I've seen before in a lip product and my words are probably not doing it justice. It's easy to see why they say that Tom Ford lipsticks are impossible to dupe.

Within a week of my return home, Tom Ford number two was winging it's way to me, accompanied by a Vanilla Suede for my mum, who couldn't believe how flattering and interesting the shade was. Not just me, see! My second shade of choice being Indian Rose, one of the best-selling colours in the collection. I would personally describe this as more of a traditional English Rose colour. It's a gorgeous dusky pink but with a pop of colour that makes it just that little bit more than your everyday 'my lips but better' pink. Leaving a silkier and more pigmented effect than Vanilla Suede, this shade gives a bold wash of colour which blends in beautifully with my natural lip colour.

Aside from being divine lip products, can we all just take a moment to appreciate that packaging. I know right, it's the epitome of luxe. Cool, weighty and solid to hold, the little black blocks ooze quality, and as for 'the Tom Ford click', oh god. It's safe to say that I, am, obsessed.

Let me know which shades you own if you're a fellow Tom Ford lipstick obsessive! I'd also love to know of any other lipsticks that look even better on than in the bullet - there has to be some more affordable gems out there!
