Haircare Heroines
...because I'm bored of 'haircare heroes' and really, these gems have some serious girlpower...
The Surf Spray Bumble & bumble's iconic Surf Spray is everyone's favourite for a reason. My long, heavy, naturally straight hair resists a curl like its life depends upon it, and this is the only surf/salt spray I've ever tried that actually manages to do its job. For best results spritz upon damp hair pre- and mid-blow dry, scrunch with your fingers and do not brush. Worth the pennies ladies, I can assure you.
The Volumiser Oribe's Volumista Mist* is another of my mid-blow dry indulgences. Just a few spritzes from this bottle ensures instant volume, softness, and body without leaving a trace of product in my hair. It also goes without saying that (like all Oribe pieces) this smells INCREDIBLE.
The Unofficial Hair Perfume I can't even begin to describe the scent of the L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Mist, but needless to say it is good. I spritz this through the lengths of my hair pre-blow dry and prior to leaving the house for a long-lasting, luxurious scent which gives an added boost of shine. What I love most about this oil is that you can't feel it in your hair at all. It's lightweight, non-greasy, and doesn't leave a hint of tackiness or stiffness to your locks.
The All-In-One I'm onto my second bottle of the Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray - a miracle spray if ever there was one. This light spray provides the benefits of a hairspray, dry shampoo, texturiser, and volumiser all rolled into one. The perfect travel/handbag companion, and ideal for providing that much needed boost post-office and pre-cocktails. It does leave hair feeling slightly stiff and tacky so does need washing out after use. Unless you want to apply more of course...
The Deep Cleanse A clarifying shampoo is a girl's best friend. Use once a week to remove the stubborn build-up left behind by your regular hair products - silicones, waxes, and all that gunk deposited by hard water and your trip to the local pool. If you're trying to get into the habit of washing your hair less frequently then invest in a bottle of Klorane Nettle Shampoo*, which will remove the nasties without drying out your hair, and leave you struggling to remember when you last shampooed (in a good way).
The Weapon of Choice I can't even imagine not being without my trusty Tangle Teezer, and if I were to loose it it would be an automatic repurchase. Its unique formula of tooth configuration provides speedy, painless detangling, without creating static or leaving hair flat. I only wish it had been around in my childhood to save me from mornings spent in tears at the hands of a standard hairbrush.
The Glow Getter Add a subtle but effective hint of gloss and lustre to your hair with Aesop's latest haircare launch. Shine* is a lightweight, hydrating, and beautifully scented oil, guaranteed to have you earning compliments all day long. Nourishing, and hydrating, this oil leaves no stickiness or residue and constitutes a welcome natural alternative to silicone based styling products. Perfect for taming frizz around the roots and for softening coarse ends. I keep this in my handbag for rainy (literally) days.
The Moisture Boost Oribe's Signature Moisture Masque* provides instant dehydration from the depths of this luxe, glossy black tub. With a blend of keratin, amber extract, and macadamia seed oil to strengthen damaged hair, moisturise, and provide a natural and instant shine, this weekly indulgence is guaranteed to leave your hair silky smooth, weightless, and oh so soft.
The Detangler Aussie's Miracle Hair Insurance Leave-In Conditioner has cult status in my book. I haven't been without a bottle for the past four years, and (bearing in mind that I use it 2-3 times a week) I'm only on my second bottle. I spritz this liberally through my hair post shower before combing through and then blow-drying. Making brushing/combing my hair that little bit quicker/easier, as well as providing a volume boost and smelling incredible - this product deserves a hype.
